confessions

-I spent five hours tonight on a 10-point trial balance for accounting. I'm $11,100 off in my debits and credits. I don't think 10 points is worth spending more time on it. Which means I just spent five hours to get approximately 3 points.

-Sometimes for dinner all I want is an apple and peanut butter and granola. I can't stop eating the gluten-free granola my mom helped me make over Christmas break. I think it's the coconut. It's the most delicious food in the world.

-However, sometimes after those apple feasts, all I want is pickles. So I eat a third of a jar of pickles. (Who does that?)

-I watched this tutorial on how to make a supahhcute top knot today. It was my extremely deep wish that I could use that top knot to not wash my hair for the third day in a row. I decided my hair isn't long enough. Shower it is...

-Today at the laundry room at Liberty Square, it took drying my colors for four rounds (that's two hours, my friend) before they were passably damp. It didn't occur to me to change dryers until after the third round. Pretty sure it was broken.

-This is the kind of day today was: I'm talking to Holly as I'm walking out the door. I walk straight into the doorframe. She keeps talking. I turn around. "Did you just see me run into that door?" "Yes, but I wasn't going to say anything..."

Please tell me it's the weekend... but first I need to shower. Too bad all my towels were in the wash. And therefore damp. Woohoo.

state of the union

every time i start a new journal, the first page is a giant list of my loves and hates. this is not a new journal. clearly. but it just feels like time to make a list. also, i'm having a terrible day, and having already written a two-page email and multiple texts about it, it's quite frankly either a state of the union list or a ranty, whiny blog post continuing my complaining. so, count yo blessings, yo.

IN:
  • the cocunuty deliciousness of almond joys
  • sweaters
  • uggs
  • my sisters coming over on wednesdays
  • mittens (pleasepleaseplease can it be cold enough for mittens yet?)
  • getting my bangs cut
  • watching people awkwardly flirt outside my office door
  • studying in the extra office at work
  • "you're his huckleberry whether you want to be or not."
OUT:
  • accounting, especially bad debt expenses, and especially the test i need to take this week
  • people being lame
  • being homesick
  • the mess that is my room
  • the mess that is my desk at work
  • not sleeping
  • showering (oh wait..)
  • fights with roommates
  • biting the edges of my nails until they really really hurt and i have to put bandaids on
  • hiring
  • STOMACHACHES (can i be done yet?)
  • gluten free bread
  • pompous arrogant obnoxious students who come into the office
  • not having enough time to get everything done
  • not having enough time to get anything done
  • art class

dream on, lovergirl

every once in a while i get wishful and i airdry my hair. and while it's drying i imagine that when i unwrap my hair, it will cascade down my back in a tumble of perfectly messy beach waves.

it never does.

never.

i mean, especially right now because it's short (grow faster, puhhhleaaase), but even when it's long. my hair was just not made naturally beautiful. at all. and it is the bane of my existence. so i just wanted to complain about that really quick while i sit here with the hair that i airdried and secretly hoped would turn out attractive and instead looks like a drowned shih tzu puppy. i hate getting ready in the morning.

(or afternoon. whichever the case may be.)

here are some things that have sucked lately.

(as usual, this is in no way a comprehensive list.)

1. it just won't make sense for me to apply to the isys program this summer. so i get to be here for three more years. which is only six semesters, which will put me at at total of 9 semesters to graduate, which isn't terrible, but three years is a loooooonnnggg time and i'm bummed.

2. while everybody's tweets, statuses, and blogs are about how sunny and warm and summery it is, it is forty degrees and rainy in provo. my socks have been wet all day. and i'm not loving it.

3. i should have been working on the five programming problems that are due at midnight tonight all weekend. i wasn't. i was doing civ reading all weekend. so now i get to work on it all night. cool.

4. programming boy not only appears to have a girlfriend, but he appears to have a girlfriend whom he calls "my babe." minus two points. maybe even three.

5. i spent two hours in civ today thinking about how badly i wanted pizza. then i went to buy a slice of pizza, for four dollars. i've never spent four dollars more poorly in my life.

ohhhh please.

i have compiled a list of things i just cannot stand. please bear in mind that this list is not comprehensive.

1. when people walk into my room to floss their teeth. conversation is just not possible when one person's hands are down his or her throat, so why does flossing need to be done in a social setting?

2. walking into a public bathroom stall and finding pee on the toilet seat. i'm an avid croucher, not a sitter, because i do not want to sit where somebody's else's pee was just twenty seconds before i wiped it off.

3. that there is a special group in japan to save the pets left behind in the evacuation zones. because there isn't enough work to do just helping the people..?

4. putting my contacts in the wrong eye. and then doing the whole close-one-eye-then-the-other thing all day long to confirm and re-confirm that i did, in fact, mess it up.

5. the idea that two people at byu-idaho who like each other will hang out from the instant class ends until curfew every single day from here until marriage or breakup, whichever comes first.

6. zagg invisible shield screen covers. i am absolutely certain i have never regretted spending $20 on something more than i regret buying that thing.

7. when people eat my food. as if i'll think that somehow i ate twelve oreos in one week..while i was on vacation, 1000 miles away.

8. chocolate milk. hot chocolate is great. chocolate ice cream is wonderful. but chocolate milk is just..not. i think it stems from the time i drank strawberry milk in first grade and then threw it up. nasty stuff.

9. facebook pictures that were obviously taken solely to create the appearance that you were having a good time and that your life is enviably fun. because really, who would want to just live life and have a good time if there wasn't a camera to provide evidence?!

puhhh-leaaasssee

things i hate

-when people hold hands at the gym while moving from machine to machine. or while walking around the track. really, people? could you please just do your own thing for, like, five seconds?

-making eye contact with people you used to know but now have zero social obligation to.. and then walking past them three more times and having to do it all over again.

-finding books at the library at byu-i. which is the single most confusing library i have ever set foot in.

-that my favorite jeans are getting a hole.

-when the dvd remote gets lost. which means we have to watch gossip girl on the computer. yayyy.

-chelsea: "i have a vitamin d deficiency." me: "what exactly does that mean?" chelsea: "it means my body doesn't have enough vitamin d." thaaaank youu chels.

-that girls start busting out the flip flops when the temperature hits forty.

-oreo pizza at craigo's. oh wait. just kidding. that stuff is heaven on a plate.

oh gosh

i'm having a long week.

yes, it's only tuesday.
no, i'm not taking classes.
yes, my job consists only of working on the computer.
no, i haven't been in rexburg for more than five days in a row this entire semester.

but yes, i am tired of this week.
i am tired of rexburg and i am tired of my brain being full.
also i am tired of not having things that i have to do.
it gets old.

i'm ready for the weekend.
sunshine and 70 degree weather?

yes.
please.

oh wait. it's only going to be in the sixties and it's probably going to rain?
ehh. who cares. get me outta here :)

my holiday rant

i would like to dedicate this to miss karly percifield.
thank you for your inspiration, karly.

it has come to my attention that only fifty percent of the holidays are really worth celebrating.
not saying i boycott the rest.
just saying i'm being reasonable.
let's start at the beginning.

valentine's day.
everybody knows valentine's day is ri-dic-u-lous.
i just don't understand how you can manufacture romantacism.
am i right or am i right?

saint patrick's day.
who even really knows what this is? i definitely do not.
and yet i always super dread that day in case i forgot to wear green.
weird, huh?

easter.
i like easter.
i like easter egg hunts, and that my mom still hides easter baskets for us.
i like decorating eggs.
i like easter music.
so easter's all right.

fourth of july.
i've always been kind of whatever about the fourth.
i love america.
i'm all for patriotism.
but i think it's kinda dumb in general.
i missed the fourth for like three years in a row.
and i didn't mind one tiny bit.
but this year i quite liked it.
i mean who's going to pass up barbeque and fireworks?

birthdays.
(this comes after the fourth in my list because my birthday comes after the fourth.)
birthdays are most often a buzzkill.
i'm not really a huge fan.
i mean i like when my mother makes me ribs.
and i like cake as much as the next kid.
but birthdays in general?
i'd rather skip it.

halloween.
there are three genres of halloweeners.
first, the people who are obsessed, plan their costumes for months, and liiiive for the day
second, the people who are kinda whatever, who just dress up because everyone else does.
third, the people who would rather the holiday didn't even exist.
i fall firmly into the third category.
i hate being scared. hate it. i'm serious.
i would so, so much rather just watch a chick flick.
maybe decorate halloween cookies. i mean that's fine.
also pumpkin cookies. that's fine too.
but that's it. that is where i put my foot down.

thanksgiving.
i know thanksgiving is all about being thankful, about families, about being together.
and i'm all for that. really, i am.
but how many people really spend meaningful time pondering how thankful they are at thanksgiving?
the moms are worried about cooking, and the dads are worried about football.
in the end, it's really little more than a celebration of the obesity of america.

christmas.
like most of the world, i love christmas.
we have our traditions.
watching the santa clause movies 800 times, the christmas tree game, figuring out our presents, making christmas food..
and i love every part of it.
except christmas day. i hate christmas day.
because it means it's all over.
and that's lame.

in conclusion.
holidays are pretty dumb.
i mean i know they're not going anywhere.
and that's fine. i pretend i like them.
but the truth is?
ehh.
i think they're silly.
