the day amy and aubrey get a new apartment

yesterday it was 97 degrees in provo. i celebrated by carrying box upon box of belongings up three flights of stairs in my new apartment. and oh what a joy it was.

i'm just kidding. it wasn't, really. but after a long day of working, aubrey and i are completely moved in. and now i would like to share the beauty of our new place, minus the basement room which i forgot to take a picture of, and the front door, which picture i accidentally wrecked on photobucket and then saved. so that's nice.

Photobucket
el room de living
(ps no tv. bummer? i'm going with yes. help? please?)

Photobucket
the kitchen with our welcome-to-our-new-home brownies on the stove. YES PLEASE.

Photobucket
two of the glorious wonderful flights of stairs.

and now welcome to the loft.

Photobucket
two of the three tiny doors. which lead to large storage areas. which i am basically treating as a second room.

Photobucket
aubs's bed.

Photobucket
our closet! please note the tiny door behind the clothes. behind that door lies storage area three, aka paige's bedroom.

Photobucket
my bed.

aaaaaand our personal favorite.
Photobucket
the bathroom. the sink, of course, is in our bedroom. (uhhh what?) shortest shower curtain rod in the world. also, cheapest shower curtain in the world, from honk's dollar store on freedom. the best way to describe it is tissue paper. we're hoping it lasts us until we get our butts to target for a real plastic liner...

so come visit us pronto. i mean that would be fun, right? right.

monday

one of the joys of provo is that apartment contracts end a week before new apartment contracts start, rendering people like me homeless. thus, i am staying at my aunt and uncle's house for a few days before i move into my new apartment (tomorrow!!!).

so i get off work yesterday after a lovely birthday lunch for brent and start driving to springville. (ps, i think i did a pretty darn good job at decorating the office.. particularly the shawn kemp poster. stephen, i'm sure, would disagree. oops.)

and then i realized i had no idea where to go.

luckily at this same time, i'm talking to michael. "i am completely clueless as to where i'm driving," i say. "turn right on 1300," he says in reply.

the boy has been there once in his life, a year and a half ago. impressive? i think yes.

maybe someday i'll be able to find my way around this world without using google maps every ten seconds. but i'm not counting on it.

no time for cameras, we'll use our eyes instead

best. weekend. ever.

it all started with civ on friday, in which i forgot to study for a map quiz and still aced it, and forgot to print my paper but received full credit after emailing it to the TA, because my paper was so "well thought out" and "thought provoking." thank you. i wrote that in ten minutes after about ten hours of nonstop programming frustration.

then i made some incredible progress in my programming project that's due on monday. and then i went to malawi's pizza with david harrison smith. guess what? best pizza ever. and dave is legit cool. so it was fun.

after thaaat, i went to some friends's soccer game.. they lost.. but it was still cool. and then it was bonfire time!

love summer.

saturday i went to my uncle's wedding which meant lots of family which was the greatest. my grandma gave me an hour's worth of boy/life advice and made me show her facebook pictures of just about every person who i have ever known.

and then today, church was pretty good except i had the wiggles really bad and megan was incredibly distracting (ha just kidding. lav you.) and the bishop asked me to speak next sunday so that's going to be great. but then the boys came over for dinner and aubrey made carne asada and it was delishhhhh.

and my program is done (i thinkk. i hope. please don't let there be any more secret glitches..) and aubrey and i went for a walk and it was so, so beautiful, and now it's time for ward prayer and then a sunday drive and i'm sad the weekend is over (especially cause it's midterms this week.. already?!?!!) but guess what? only two more weeks until memorial day weekend which means a sweet roadtrip and then CHELSEA!!!!

i'm happy.

not even complaining

don't worry. i'm still alive and well. apparently i just don't blog when i get busy. which is something i haven't had to experience since, oh, about senior year. so that's bringing my life some excitement.

basically my life consists of work (love it), eating delicious food at work for lunch (love it), doing my homework (don't even mind it), running (i loathe the altitude in utah), going to cristina's (perk of living in the same town as her: i get fed dinner. just kidding. i mean not really, that really is a perk, but i am crazy about my sister even without the food), hanging out with my roommates, and listening to voicemails from paige. i genuinely pity anybody in the world who has not experienced a paige voicemail. she has a special little voicemail voice that is just glorious and makes my day better every single day. sometimes twice a day, and occasionally even three times a day.)

i like going to byu. i like my roommates. i like my classes. i like working on writing a program for, like, four hours and then getting it to work and feeling like i actually did something. i like using my brain. i like working hard. i like being taken seriously. i like my life right now. a lot.

also, i just ate some easter candy. it was mixed together in a plastic bag. and i would just like to say, peanut m&ms and jellybeans eaten together accidentally do not mix well. i can't get the taste out of my mouth. hello yuck.

i am a child.

on monday, this conversation happened with the guy whose job i am taking:

stephen: are you always nice, or do you have a dark side?
me: nahh, i think i'm a pretty nice person. i mean, i look like a 12-year old. how could i not be nice?!
stephen: i don't think you look like a 12-year old.
and i think he meant it. hello, first time in my life that somebody legit doesn't think i look ten years younger than i am. so i'm feeling pretty good about life, right? right.

fast forward three hours. i'm unpacking my car. i'm carrying a box in. some guy gets out of his truck.

him: hey! you just moving in?
me: yaaaaa you betcha (that's just some of my minnesotan accent coming out)
him: oh, is it your first semester?

i guess i'll never be taken seriously as an adult.

in other news, despite the fact that my car is (almost) entirely unloaded, i keep forgetting several critical things in my car. which cannot easily be remedied by walking out to my car, because i can't get a parking permit because i don't have my car registration..so my car is parked forever away.

for breakfast, i eat frosted mini wheats out of a tupperware with my fingers.
Photobucket
for dinner, i eat a chunk of bread and a chunk of cheese. for lunch, i eat jamba juice.

note to self: bring in utensils tonight.

also, this campus is enormous in comparison to byu-i. i'm learning just as fast as i can. but until then, i walk around under the direction of google maps on my phone. i pretend i'm texting.

clever? i think yes.

welcome to the first day of the rest of my life.

only kidding. :)

true or false: i'm sick for the second time..in two weeks.

true.

i haven't been sick all winter. it was awesome. then i got sick in virginia. it lasted two days. i got better. then i got sick again in utah. it's lasted three days so far. i'm just a tiny bit miserable.
oh well, worse things have happened.

plus, something good has come out of it.
i am straight up addicted to the app falldown.

and i plead with the entire universe to get it. play it. love it.

on a brighter note, my textbook for the 0.5 credit online prereq class i have to take on microsoft excel came today. and i know it's silly (i'll repeat: it's an online half credit class about excel), but it made me feel like life is finally starting. not that i haven't been living for the last four months..

but so many things changed/are about to change (engaged/not engaged, byui/byu, early childhood special ed/information systems, office assistant plus review writer/new office assistant job) that it's been hard not to feel like i'm just waiting..waiting..waiting for april 26 when i'll be all moved in to a new provo apartment, have one day at my new job under my belt, and be going to the first day of my classes..
