french fries
as a child, i hated ketchup. loathed it. for example, i loved sloppy joes until i found out they had barbeque sauce in them and barbeque sauce has ketchup. and then one day we were at red lobster at one of those big round tables, and next to us was the table we always called the "laughy table," that really, really loud table which seemed to always be right next to us, and when my mother wasn't looking i dipped my french fry in ketchup real quick-like and popped that baby in my mouth and fell in love. and ever since, i love my ketchup. lately i eat a lot of french fries (or as my mother calls them, french bakes, because they're definitely not fried and even more delicious) because they don't make my tummy hurt. however, something i really, really don't like is running out of ketchup. i would rather have six times too much ketchup on my plate than try to get enough ketchup on my last fry. gross.

i wish that brianna's phone wasn't broken. at home, we have a terrible habit of walking down the stairs after getting ready and realizing that we are a) both wearing the same shirt, b) both wearing the same jeans, and/or c) both wearing our hair in the same way. and having class together three times a week means it's important that we check on these things with each other. i'm wearing a shirt that i own in red and she owns in pink. i'm nervous.

where is fall??
i miss my chelsea (and also this sweater. i wish i was wearing it right now.)

is it the weekend yet?
my level of excitement for the weekend is through the roof. this last weekend was fantastic. football game, moneyball, finishing my entire to-do list, A-'s on both of my tests, the park, church, relief society broadcast, long talks with my mother and emails from my father, lemon bars, source code.. perfection. but now i'm ready for next weekend. and quite frankly i think five more days is much too long.

is it monday again already?

i love hiking. i love being outside in the sun, i love walking in my nikes, i love when it is greengreengreen and surrounded by trees, and i especially love when a waterfall or lake or river is the final destination. i love sitting on a rock and just thinking, i love the feeling of satisfaction when i get home. (and maybe i also love not having to drag my butt to the gym later that day..)

one other thing i really love is when chelsea and kylie surprise come over at one in the morning. particularly when they sneak up the stairs and it scares me more than they even planned. and particularly when chels brings the most glorious, perfect, wonderful birthday present in the entire world--an african safari journal (made out of elephant dung by african children..classy) and a baby nala.

soooo happy that chelsea's back in rexburg a mere three hours away and that kylie is in heber.

i am having the absolute best weekend.

why hello. paige has been prettyyy mad at me lately for being a terrible blogger. sorry paigalicious. here's the thing though. life is good. super good. and here are three reasons why.

1. im in colorado right now with chels. i like this girl. a lot. also her little brother blake who says we are besties. but really mostly i love chelsea and every second i am here i am just so happy i could scream.

2. i played some mini golf yesterday. and rather than being labeled as a liability, i was called "slightly above average." hey, i'll take it.

3. chels brought me to the pet store where they had a (wait for it...) PUGGLE. this morning my mother said to me "you sound a little obsessed." well guess what? i am. and playing with that puggle was the most perfect 20 minutes of my life. i don't even like animals. but i want my baby benjamin so bad :-/

a tutorial

today i would like to discuss frosted mini wheats. specifically, i would like to discuss the proper way to eat frosted mini wheats. there is only one right way. so pay close attention.

first, pour out twelve frosted mini wheats. arrange them frosting side down in the bowl, three by four.
Photobucket

second, pour a tiny bit of milk on them. just enough to get the frosting wet. do not cover them. you will regret it if you do. milk should soften, not drown.
Photobucket

third, use your spoon to flip each frosted mini wheat over. please do this as fast as you possibly can because soggy frosted mini wheats are naaaasty.
Photobucket

fourth, eat your frosted mini wheats left to right, starting at the top. repeat once, because a serving size is 24 frosted mini wheats.
alt="Photobucket">
(don't mind my makeupless face. i get bored in the mornings and have to take breaks for things like breakfast before i am done getting ready.)

if you think this is excessively complicated, it's probably because you're the kind of person who likes oatmeal and soggy frosted mini wheats. and if that's the case, i think you're disgusting.

this week has been crazyyy. but today is going to be wonderful. i am going to finish working, go to civ, finish packing, go to programming, finish packing again, and then get in the car with will for a glorious eight hour drive to colorado so i can finally finally see my best friend chelsea. hello perfect?!

and now my heart stumbles on things i don't know

(song of the week: awake my soul)
another nice part of being home is that my wallet can sit untouched on my nightstand for two weeks, and my bank account can stay unopened for even longer. today i bought something for the first time since i've been home. my purchase consisted mostly of new running shorts and i love them. i took my new shoes out for the first time today, since it's miraculously not snowing, raining, or windy for once in minnesota's history.
Photobucket
i'm obsessed. they're nike lunar elite 2, and i felt like i was running on air. some runs are just like that, and they remind me why i run. i listened mostly to chill music--noah and the whale, ingrid michaelson, regina spektor, mumford and sons--until i was tired, and then i switched to my usual running music--ke$ha, rihanna, kanye--to push through to the end. and when i was done, i stretched on my driveway and wanted to do it all over again.

other things i'm liking right now:
*this lion picture which paige made for me:
Photobucket
*people who say "what's wrong? talk to me :(" and actually want to listen.
*that chelsea found these puggles at the pet store and i get to play with them when i go to denver for memorial day weekend.
Photobucket
*mandarin orange salad and homemade rolls. i ate at least a gallon of salad for lunch. yuuummmm.
*finding a new blog that i can't get enough of, and reading every post ever written in the last three years.
*that all of my supposed-to-be wedding activities have passed, so i don't have to suddenly realize "i should be getting married right now," or "i should be at my minnesota reception right now."
*buds starting to speckle the trees. i love spring. i live for spring. and it is almost here. :)

i struggled.

every night at ten i go to the gym.
today it was just chelsea and me. we always run around the indoor track. today, we just weren't feeling it. so we went to the real live gym.
and i'll just admit it: i have never been to the byu-idaho gym. i'm more of a run-outside-or-around-the-track-or-if-all-else-fails-maybe-at-the-apartment-complex-treadmills kind of girl.

so first, i get pissed at the guy driving down the wrong side of the parking lot. he was about to take my spot. and i was mad. until chelsea said, "umm amy.. you're driving down the wrong side of the parking lot."
whatever.

we go inside. chelsea punches her i-number in and walks through the turnstile. i pretend i know what i'm doing. i punch my social security number in four times before i realize that's not my i-number. cool. chelsea comes and helps me. after entering my i-number twice, i finally make it through the turnstile.
awkward.

here is a list of the things i know how to use at a gym: 1. treadmills. 2. ellipticals. 3. free weights. 4. stair steppers.
we go to the ellipiticals. but they aren't normal ellipticals. they're combination stair-stepper/elliptical/whoknowswhatelse and it goes right. over. my. head. chelsea suggests at least three times that maybe we should just get on a normal elliptical. i guess maybe that means i was embarrassing her. it took a good ten minutes for me to figure those babies out.

so it was a great trip to the gym. i learned a lot. which is definitely always what i strive for when i go to the gym..
please love me despite the post-workout look that i'm rocking. (i just spelled that word "wrocking." umm... okay?) also love my sparkly black nails. i can't get enough of them.
